The Migrant Youth Vision Project (MYVP) team were excited to be part of the Leadership and Innovation Breakfast with Orange Sky Laundry. The event was an opportunity to network with leaders from across government, business and the social sector to co-create sustainable organisations and communities for the future.

The story of Orange Sky Laundry, an initiative by Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett, shows the leadership of two young people addressing a real need for some Australians and create positive social impact. The pair was awarded the 2016 Young Australians of the Year award for building a mobile laundromat in the back of their van for vulnerable members of the community.

The initiative also facilitates conversation between different groups of people and has made a significant contribution to uplifting the lives of many.  Attending the Orange Sky breakfast reignited MYVP’s passion to work with young people in realising their potential to create change.

One of MYVP’s Youth Advisory Council members who attended the event said “It was a privilege to hear from Nic and Lucas founders of the Orange Sky Laundry services for homeless people. It was awesome to learn that in order to make the biggest impact on the world, you have to do things differently.”
