StreetBeat is a percussion ensemble using basketballs. Run in partnership with the School of Hard Knocks, students get together, learn beats and create new movements.

As a facilitator, I have supported the development of the sessions that Richard from SOHK leads, whilst engaging with the students and sharing ideas to create a performance. This has been a great opportunity for everyone to know other people and build relationships. I have enjoyed a lot seeing all the talent and creativity young people possess!

StreetBeat is a fun environment to network, mix different hobbies such music and sports, and learn skills such teamwork. I have personally experienced that the sessions stimulate mind, body and spirit!

StreetBeat happens every Thursday afternoon at Yeronga State High School from 2.40 pm, and we are currently working on a school performance to be presented next term.
